Oil Pastels & Collage

Fridays, Aug. 7 – Sept. 4, 2026  |  1:00–2:00 PM  |  Live online via Zoom  |  $125  |  Instructor: Tim Stone

Oil pastels are an incredibly versatile and approachable medium, making them ideal for both studio practice and working on location. I'll share how I use oil pastels for plein air sketching while traveling, and demonstrate ways to transform quick studies into more fully developed studio pieces.

Collage will also play an important role throughout the course as we experiment with incorporating recycled and inexpensive materials into our artwork. It is perfect for speeding up the art making process and for unlocking potential ideas and pathways your work can take.

Making art is ultimately about understanding materials and discovering how they can be transformed to communicate ideas in meaningful ways.
